Alpe d'Huez (France)

21 hairpins, each numbered. Signs honor stage winners. The Dutch Corner on bend 7 is legendary chaos during the Tour.

Mont Ventoux (France)

The Giant of Provence. Exposed, lunar summit. Simpson's memorial at 1.5km from top.

  • 21.5 km from Bédoin, 7.5% average
  • Three routes: Bédoin, Malaucène, Sault

Stelvio Pass (Italy)

48 hairpins from Prato. Second-highest paved pass in the Alps at 2,758m.

  • 24.3 km, 7.4% average
  • Usually open June-October only

Making the Pilgrimage

Research conditions, pack for weather changes, and take your time. These climbs deserve respect and patience. Photos at the summit are mandatory.
