SRAM's Force 1 groupset has been making waves since the rumors first started circulating about the new cyclocross-oriented one-by-eleven groupset. And the Force 1 Shifter borrows heavily from the top-tier Red shifter to provide unparalleled shifting accuracy and ergonomics. Comfort should be the least of your concerns, as the Force 1 shifter shares the same hood and lever shape as the current Force and Red 22 shifters. In designing the precursors to this shifter, SRAM focused on perfecting the shape, texture, and materials. The new shape offers a smooth transition from bar to hood and SRAM covered it with lightly padded, textured rubber to thwart fatigue and enhance grip, especially when faced with muddy 'cross courses. The Force 1 shifter retains the crisp movement between gears which SRAM mastered with its Red groupset. The key to this is SRAM's ZeroLoss and DoubleTap technologies. DoubleTap technology allows shifting both up and down the cassette from a single lever, which provides an intuitive connection between body and bike. ZeroLoss is an optimized pawl geometry which actuates the cable as soon as you apply pressure to the shift lever. This offers the highest-level of smoothness and response in both upshifting and downshifting. The generous carbon shift paddle reduces the act of shifting to a gentle touch. The carbon fiber brake and shift levers are independently reach-adjustable. Easy access to the adjustment screws allows simple placement of these essential controls, where they'll offer a custom connection to your hands. This shifter being built for a one-by drivetrain, it's paired with a matching left brake lever, which shares the superb hood feel, and forgoes the shift lever to yield a phenomenally refined package.
